Signs of Spring
As we gladly, and with fervent hope of sunshine in our hearts, approach the end of winter, it's time to celebrate the arrival of spring.
March 21st does this in three wonderful ways. It sees out the Spring or Vernal Equinox, the day when day and night are the same length, all around the world. It's a momentous occasion for many cultures, and it's a time of renewal and growth, hope and green.
But that's not all that March 21st is. It's also International Day of Forests, a day that highlights the importance of forests for our planet and raises awareness of the need to protect them. Forests provide us with so many benefits, from regulating our climate to providing us with oxygen and fresh water. We’re based in Southampton and regularly head into the New Forest to enjoy it’s varied landscapes, spectacular views and sometimes serene, sometimes wild, beauty.
March 21st is also the beginning of Nowruz, the Persian New Year, and we think , pretty much the best New Year out there. Unlike dark and dreary January, it's a time for celebrating the arrival of spring and the renewal of nature. Nowruz has been celebrated for over 3,000 years and is a joyous occasion that is marked with feasting, dancing, and spending time with loved ones.
So, as we joyfully wave goodbye to winter and eagerly welcome spring, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the beauty of our planet and all the wonders it has to offer. Happy Spring Equinox, International Day of Forests, and Nowruz to all!
